Antique Watchmaker Centering Tool
This watchmaker's tool is a show piece celebrating the history of watches, and the complexities of making them. It’s a captivating conversation piece to display on your mantel, and a great way to way to showcase your love of Horology.
Please note this tool is more of a conversation piece to display with your watch collection. There may be pieces missing and may not necessarily be a functional tool. At the time these tools were used they were state of the art technology. However, as time passed, watchmakers preformed these functions in more practical ways as opposed to when these historic pieces were originally utilized.
A mainplate pivot hole would have been aligned with the lower spindle, then the bridge or cock screwed in place on the mainplate would have been marked with the upper spindle (center punch), assuring the resulting wheel or barrel to be added would be perfectly perpendicular between bridge and plate.
The above tool is fixed on three legs, below the tool is held on the round base.
Dimensions: 9-1/2” tall, the base measures 7” wide.
