A fashionable way to display the ornate pendant watches, ladies used what is
called a slide chain. The purpose of the slide is to enable the wearer to adjust
the height at which the watch is hung. The slides were often embellished with
multicolored stones or elaborately engraved and embossed. The chain is doubled
around the neck and clipped with the clasp, then again on the bow of the watch.
Assembling a slide chain can be intimidating the first couple times, but once
