Rare Elgin Art Deco Square Case Pocket Watch c.1928 | 12 Size 17 Jewel
ITEM-2738-EA

Product Details
In
our experience handling antique and vintage American watches, we have rarely
encountered an Elgin pocket watch in a square case of this style. Very Rare.
Offered
here is an unusually styled Elgin pocket watch dating to approximately 1928,
distinguished by its striking square white gold-filled case and strong early
Art Deco appearance.
While
most Elgin pocket watches of this period are encountered in conventional round
cases, this example takes a dramatically different approach. The geometric
square case gives the watch the appearance of a piece of late-1920s Art Deco
design rather than a traditional American pocket watch. In our experience, this
is an uncommonly encountered case style for an Elgin pocket watch.

For
an Elgin collector, the appeal of this watch lies not simply in its movement
but in the unusual presentation. Its square case, white gold-filled
construction, silver dial, Alpha hands, and circa-1928 date combine to create a
pocket watch that looks distinctly different from the traditional round Elgins
of the period.
