A Karrusel in unused condition is a very scarce item indeed! Wonderful display
case offered, clear vision of the 52-1/2 minute Karrusel movement. Unused, new
old watches are terrific investment pieces!
Karrusel is a type of watch complication that uses a rotating disc with a fixed
pinion to transfer energy from the mainspring to the escapement. It was invented
in 17th century by Christiaan Huygens, and is one of the oldest movements still
in production. It is most commonly found in pocket watches, and is prized for
its accuracy and beauty. The Karrusel movement is similar to the tourbillon, but
instead of the entire escapement rotating, only the disc does. This allows it to
have a longer power reserve.
