By Internet: This is the fastest method. For those that know what they want to order, with the convenience of being able to order 24 hours a day, we would suggest purchasing directly from the website.
By E-mail: Sometimes a customer requires additional information about the item, photos or has general questions about it. We answer E-mails as soon as possible, within 24 hours during business hours Monday–Thursday, 9–5 EST.
By Phone: We recognize that sometimes you like to hear a real/live person on the other end whether for reassurance or ease. Please call us if you have questions or wish to order an item. After we have received the watch from the customer, we will provide a firm price quote of what Ashland is prepared to pay for, or credit you for the trade in value.

QUESTIONS ABOUT WATCHES
How old is my watch?

We would suggest you use the resources found in the “Complete Price Guide to Watches”. There are lists in the book that provides the production dates of American and some European watches. You will also find the dates that some of the individual watchmakers were alive. Find your watch by referencing it to the serial number on the movement that correlates the production numbers by specific date and if not within a ten-year period.
How do I know when my watch is fully wound?

Upon gently winding a watch the wheel inside will quit ratcheting when the main spring its self has come to full capacity. When winding the watch, if you feel a resistance do not force it because the mainspring is fully wound. Over winding/forcing the watch can cause internal damage to the movement, which can also mean possible expensive repairs.
My watch is wound, why doesn’t it work?

There are several possibilities why your watch is not ticking. Some of the most common reasons are a broken balance staff; a bad pallet fork; the movement needs maintenance or cleaning (this is to take in consideration that all the parts are in the movement 100% complete); or possibly the hands of the watch are intertwined. Besides these solutions there are many other possibilities but these are the most common as far as a simple repair.
Are the watches that we sell working?

Yes. We restore/service the watches and they are in good running order when shipped out. The only exception is when otherwise noted as in a parts lot or Non Running.
Do all the pocket watches have glass crystals?

No. We try to keep the crystals as original as possible. Some replacement crystals that we have are old/new stock but many have to be replaced with newer acrylic types.
What is my watch worth?

Watches vary in price as much as any collectible depending on the condition, rarity, makers, quality of movement, age, etc.
The best way to find out what your watch is worth is to Email photographs to us for a free verbal approximation of the value.
What do you mean by “Swiss”?

The Swiss will often private label anything they make in large quantities. Therefore, the reason we indicate Swiss in the description, is to make you aware that even though it is labeled with a domestic name, the movement was manufactured in Switzerland.
Do our measurements include the stem and crown?

No. If the watch is round, we take the measurements from the diameter of the case. If the case is off round, the measurements would consist of the width by length from the tips of the lugs.

How do you ship?

Ashland ships most of our orders via UPS. Upon request, we will ship via United States Postal Service.
-International orders: We prefer to ship UPS because they insure packages all over the world. We declare the full value, the amount you paid. Customs charges and duty fees are the responsibility of the Buyer. Refusal to pay these charges is not a valid reason for return or refund.

When will my order be shipped?

We ship orders within 1-3 business days after we process your order After we ship the package the customer usually receives it in 3 - 5 business days to.
We process orders Monday - Thursday, 9 - 5 EST.
Our watchmaker times out the watches overnight. If our watchmaker notes any inconsistencies with the timepiece, he will clean and adjust as needed. When this occurs it will delay the order a few days. If this is the case, we will email the customer letting them know an approximate date we will ship the watch to you.
We find that this is the best practice to ensure that our customers are completely satisfied with their purchase.
How much is shipping?

The store automatically calculates the actual shipping cost that is owed. We do not charge extra charges for handling and insurance. We fully insure all packages.

Internet orders will receive an email from us with the UPS or USPS tracking number.
At that point, you may use
